Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple has donated a total of $220 million to (RED), an organization that fights for an ‘AIDS-free generation.
In 2018, the Cupertino-based company mentioned that it donated $200 million. Apple is the single largest contributor to date, has partnered with (RED) for more than a decade since it was founded in 2006.
In a tweet, Cook says deaths related to AIDS have fallen by over 50 percent since 2004, which means that the organization should take pride in its work around the globe.
(RED), an organization that partners with the most influential brands and people fight against HIV and AIDS by raising awareness and generating money for the Global Fund. All the proceeds go to programs in Africa.
As part of its efforts to promote World AIDS Day Apple has painted its store logos red and pledges $1 for each Apple Pay transaction on Apple Store app, Apple.com and Apple Stores to (RED).
