Apple will be looking to shake things up in terms of changing the testing process and internal development for iOS 14 and beyond. This move disables current and new development features by default and gives testers the ability to pinpoint software issues. The mandate is set to be implemented immediately on daily developer builds.
Bloomberg insiders say that Craig Federighi, chief of software for Apple wanted an overhaul due to the number of problems and bugs in iOS 13. One of the major changes include developmental features that are disabled- testers will have to enable them and have greater control over what to check and what doesn’t work, and determine which ones are causing problems.
Moving forward, Apple will be following the new protocol, which means all features will have the toggle button for disabling and enabling. This goes not just for the iOS 14, but for all of Apple’s ecosystem, including tvOS, macOS, iPadOS and watchOS.
