As the world is eagerly awaiting upcoming streaming services Apple TV+ and Disney+, AT&T are making moves of their own. John Stankey, AT&T’s COO has announced that they will be giving HBO Max for free to existing subscribers.
HBO Max will be available at no extra charge when it launches in 2020. This promo is rumored to match Apple’s offer of 12 months free Apple TV+ when you purchase a new Apple TV, Mac, iPad or iPhone, Verizon’s 12 months of free Disney+ and T-Mobile’s Netflix promotion.
It hasn’t been reported whether HBO Max will be free for a limited time or as long as individuals subscribe to the company’s other services.
AT&T hopes that it can reach 80 million subscribers by the year 2025, in addition to retaining all their wireless customers. As for content, the only certain thing is that F.R.I.E.N.D.S. will be an exclusive.
Apple TV+ is set to launch on November 1, while Disney+ has a release date of November 12.
