Nokia 2.2 Arrives With 5MP Selfie Camera And Removable Battery
- The Nokia 2.2 with Android One is now available in the U.S. for just $139.
- It offers a 5.71-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop-shaped notch and a single 13MP shooter at the rear.
- Part of the Android One program, Nokia 2.2 is guaranteed to receive two major OS updates and security updates for up to three years.
The 2.2 has a 5.71-inch notched display with HD+ (720p) resolution. Within the notch is a 5MP selfie camera with a 13MP main shooter around back. Nokia claims the camera can shoot great low-light shots thanks to HDR and selfies offer beautification features.
The phone brings Android 9.0 Pie and is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 (MT6761) which is comparable to the Snapdragon 425 but more efficient thanks to its 12nm process. There are 3GB of RAM paired with 32GB of onboard storage, expandable via a microSD card.
At first glance there isn’t much interesting about the Nokia 2.2 compared to other phones in its sub-140 USD price range: 5.71-inch 720p LCD display, plastic chassis, MediaTek Helio A22 SoC, and micro-USB charging port. There’s one nice detail that’s just come out courtesy of Ars Technica, however: its 3000 mAh battery will be user-replacable.
There is no fingerprint scanner on the 2.2, but the handset does offer 2D face-unlock and even supports NFC for mobile payments and file sharing.
If you are interested in a budget Android One phone with a removable battery and decent looks, the Nokia 2.2 is available via BestBuy and Amazon.com in the US as of today.
