Cannes Lions has announced today that Apple will receive the Creative Marketer of the Year award in honor of the company’s creativeness in communication and marketing.
Cannes Lions Managing Director Simon Cook praised Apple, saying that the company is highly deserving of the award. Furthermore, Cook said that the company’s communications and marketing aspects consistently show creative excellence.
Tor Myhren, Marketing Communications VP, mentioned that Apple is humbled to receive the award, slated to be given at the Cannes Festival on June 21, 2019.
In 2018, the Cupertino-based tech company won the Music Grand Prix Entertainment Lion with its HomePod ad video entitled “Welcome Home”, directed by Spike Jonze and featuring FKA Twigs. Apple also gained accolades for its retail store experience “Today at Apple”.
2019 marks the first time Apple received such an award. Previous brands that received the Cannes Lions Creative Marketer of the Year title include Coca-Cola, IKEA, McDonald’s, Samsung, Unilever, Burger King, Google, Mars, and Heineken.
