A day after Huawei teased a poster of a smartphone that features the company’s iteration of Samsung’s Infinity-O display technology, an image of a person carrying a smartphone with an in-screen front-camera seems to be doing the rounds of the internet.
Spotted by GizChina in a report, the image features an individual in a subway carriage in China listening to music on a device which is rumoured to be the Nova 3S. The unit being used is definitely a functional prototype since the individual appears to be browsing on the smartphone and also has his earphones plugged in.
Nothing about the Nova 3S is known yet, but given that Huawei launched the Nova 2S last December, we should see the successor to the device launch soon. The highlight of the phone is expected to be the Samsung Infinity-O inspired in-display selfie camera, which is essentially a small hole on the top of the phone’s display from where the front-facing camera peeps out.
Huawei will release the world’s first hole-screen mobile phone before the Samsung Galaxy A8s, which will be released in December, but the A8s may also be released in December, so who will start, it will wait and see.

If not the Nova 3S, there are rumours that it could be the Nova 4. Huawei launched the Nova 3 and Nova 3i this year in July. The Nova 3 was launched at Rs 34,999 for a variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage, while the Nova 3i has launched at Rs 20,990 for the base variant with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage.
The highlight, at the time, for both the Nova 3 and Nova 3i was that they featured dual-front and dual-rear cameras, despite the difference in price.
The highlight for the new phone will probably be the Infinity-O-like display and also possibly an in-display fingerprint scanner which we’ve already seen Huawei debut with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Huawei hasn’t yet branded it, so we don’t know what it will be called.
